The map is covered in fog — is something broken?

No, that's by design! The map starts hidden under fog. As you physically move through the real world, the fog clears around you and reveals the map beneath.

How do I reveal the map?

Just go for a walk, run, or ride with the app open (or in your pocket). Everywhere you travel gets revealed and stays revealed, building your personal map over time.

Why does the app need my location?

Location is the entire game — it's how the app knows where to clear the fog. Your location and exploration history stay on your device.

Why background location?

So the fog keeps clearing while your phone is in your pocket on a walk. You can switch to foreground-only or turn location off anytime in your phone's Settings under Fog of Dog.

How do I save battery on long walks?

Open Settings in the app and choose Battery Saver mode for a lower update frequency.
